Senior Case Manager

Responsibilities Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. Conduct client-centered safety assessment and risk management planning. Provide crisis intervention and direct assistance to victims of crime and abuse; develop creative solutions reflecting clients’ unique needs in collaboration with client. Advocate for clients for public entitlements with systems and other agencies, where necessary, such as obtaining orders of protection, help with hospital/medical related needs; Office of Victims Services compensation, and relocation assistance. Provide information and referrals and facilitate linkages for clients for services such as shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance and other entitlements based on assessment and clients’ needs. Assess for and provide emergency practical assistance for clients including transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance and lock replacement in accordance with agency policy. Engage in regular supervision meetings with supervisors to review cases, reflect on client interaction and build skills. Maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics in web-based case management system. Collect client data, test new interventions and track outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, individual and group supervision, community meetings and relevant trainings and seminars. Conduct educational presentations and trainings and participate in outreach events for community groups about intimate partner and family violence, victim assistance resources and other related topics. Work collaboratively with other Safe Horizon programs to facilitate linkages for clients. Perform various other duties determined by supervisor. Interacts with Safe Horizon staff Criminal justice personnel District Attorney’s Office NYPD Office of Victim Services ACS NYCHA and Section 8 staff Other social service providers Qualifications Sensitive towards and understanding of victimization. Demonstrate respect, compassion and a non-judgmental approach to victims of crime and abuse. Willing to participate in a learning community. Well organized and detail oriented. Ability to work independently and be resourceful. Demonstrate leadership skills; act as a “go-to” person for colleagues, take initiative and suggest ways to improve processes. Team player. Strong communication and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be assertive. Able to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner. Education A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, etc.) or equivalent experience is preferred. Experience At least three years of prior direct service experience in a social service setting is required – or a minimum of two years of case management experience at Safe Horizon is preferred. Experience working with survivors of intimate partner and family violence and other victims of crime.
