Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Communication in Audio Production

Position Overview The School of Humanities at Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a non‑tenure line Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Communication with demonstrated professional expertise and/or experience in Audio Production to start in the fall 2026 semester, with a possible spring 2027 start if needed. The program seeks candidates with teaching and/or relevant professional expertise in audio production (pre‑to‑post‑production in radio), studio and field production, podcasting, and news reporting and editing (per AP style). Experience with audio production, audio and editing equipment, and hardware and software for music production, podcast creation, sound design, along with pre‑ and post‑production work (with software such as Adobe Audition, Adobe Audacity, and GarageBand) preferred. The successful candidate will provide students with hands‑on audio production experience through courses directly connected to Penn State Harrisburg's new, fully operational, streaming campus radio station. Responsibilities The faculty in this position will play a primary role in supervising the campus radio station and focus on courses in Beginner and Advanced Audio Production, Mass Communication, and News Reporting. Full‑time faculty teach 12 credits per semester for a total of 24 credit hours per year. The successful candidate will have college teaching experience and a commitment to university service and public outreach. Qualifications Master’s degree in Communication or a related field with an emphasis on audio production (required). Doctoral degree in Mass Communication or Communication with a focus on audio production preferred. Previous experience in college‑level teaching, advising, and mentoring students. A candidate with only a master’s degree will be hired at the rank of Lecturer; a candidate with a doctoral degree will be hired at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, and the degree must be completed prior to the start of employment.
