Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Job Description Operate,monitor,andmaintainboiler systems, including associated pumps, valves, piping, and control systems Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenanceto ensureboilersoperatesafelyand efficiently Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair boiler and auxiliary system issues EnsureplantoperationscomplywithOSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations, as well as site-specific safety requirements Coordinate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and facility staff to support overall plant operations Qualifications and Skills At least 2 years of HVAC experience High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related fieldispreferred Experience working in federal or government facilitiesispreferred Valid boiler operator or boiler technician certification/license, as required bythestate or facility Strong working knowledge of boiler operations, controls, and safety systems Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operating procedures Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team This position will require a pre-employment physical exam This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals) You maybe requiredtoparticipatein medical surveillance programs Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items Must be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet Must be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance Must be a U.S. citizen,as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations Employees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
