COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Pay Rate: $36.00/hour Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Manager will support the agency's communication efforts by developing and implementing strategies that promote clear, consistent, and effective internal and external communications. This role will oversee external communication channels, including social media, website content, and media relations, while creating engaging written content and informational materials that strengthen public awareness and trust.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult with the BCO team to develop effective communication procedures and policies for routine situations and crisis communications. Draft and distribute media releases announcing agency news, initiatives, and critical public information. Develop talking points and communication materials for agency and state leadership. Respond to media inquiries and coordinate communications with media outlets and journalists. Write professional letters, memoranda, announcements, and other business correspondence. Develop and maintain press kits and other media resources. Create branding materials and standardized templates, including style guides, communication materials, media releases, and other brand resources. Provide coaching and support to team members to improve written and verbal communication skills. Conduct communications research and monitor the effectiveness and progress of communication strategies. Support social media, website, and other external communication channels with timely and engaging content. Represent AZDOHS at conferences, events, task forces, workgroups, and community activities as needed. Participate in general AZDOHS staff activities and perform other duties as assigned.
