Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) technician in en_US this position involves performing a variety of tasks in the operating room to assist the surgical team. The role includes preparing sterile supplies, assisting during procedures, and ensuring a safe, clean environment in accordance with established safety and aseptic techniques.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of a formal surgical technician program or related science or health science program, 2 years of experience, and licenses/certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC).
• Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites; assist in patient transfer and positioning.
  • Assist surgical team with gowning and gloving.
  • Pass instruments and supplies during surgery; hold retractors or instruments; assist with sutures, sponges, and suction.
  • Care for and dispose of laboratory specimens; help apply dressings.
  • Ensure medications are properly labeled and handed to the surgeon, with access limited to medication distribution.
  • After surgery, help transfer patients to recovery and restock the operating room.
  • Follow safety protocols and aseptic techniques throughout all procedures.
