Position Overview

Maranatha Farms is seeking a dependable and motivated Livestock Care Specialist to assist with the daily care and management of cattle, sheep, chickens and pigs. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in animal welfare, and is comfortable performing physically demanding tasks in a farm environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the health and well-being of our livestock while supporting the farm's mission of responsible stewardship and high-quality food production.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily feeding, watering, and health checks for livestock.
• Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior and communicate concerns promptly.
• Move and handle livestock safely using low-stress handling techniques.
• Assist with pasture rotations, fencing, and grazing management.
• Maintain clean and sanitary animal housing, feeding areas, and equipment.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting livestock as needed.
• Support breeding, birthing, weaning, and general herd management activities.
• Operate farm equipment and vehicles safely (training available for the right candidate).
• Complete routine farm maintenance tasks including fence repair, mowing, and facility upkeep.
• Follow farm safety protocols and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Previous livestock experience preferred but not required.
• Comfortable working around cattle, sheep, chickens and pigs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
