Deborah Miller Catering & Events is looking for a full-time Pastry Assistant. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of prior pastry experience or a culinary degree with focus on pastry.
Deborah Miller Catering & Events is a unique departure from restaurant work, and cooks with previous restaurant experience are welcomed to apply! Our facility features a scratch kitchen and dedicated pastry room. We boast a diverse seasonal menu with a blend of purchased and in-house created items.

An ideal candidate for this position:
- Is willing and able to get to lower Manhattan as early as 5am, though shifts typically begin at 7am
- Has weekend and some evening availability
- Has some previous experience ordering for or managing their own station, including awareness of mise en place, temperature and waste log management, proper food storage, and food safety standards
- Has their NYC food handler's certification
- Has proven experience baking professionally, including mixing and baking scratch quick breads/scones, cookies, cakes, and pies. Other relevant welcomed experience would include entremets work and regional desserts.
- Has experience working in, or a strong desire to learn the systems of, a catering kitchen
This position would be part-to-full time but has the potential to grow into a full-time lead position.
Deborah Miller Catering & Events offers medical benefits, including vision and dental, after 90 days, and a 401(k) after one year.
Salary Range: $20 - $24/hour.
