CNA certification is not required but can be a plus and is paid a premium! Must be able to work some weekends. Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record. Services will be provided to various addresses/clients within a 30-mile radius of the branch address. This position is synonymous with the positions of Companion, Housekeeper, Homemaker, and Chore Worker. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Assist with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), including Bathing, Dressing, Toileting, Transferring, Feeding, and Mobility Assistance using transfer aids (Hoyer lifts, gait belts, etc.). Prepare meals, cook, and perform light housekeeping and laundry duties, such as washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen after meals, laundering clothes and linens, and performing other housekeeping activities normally done daily or weekly. Handle grocery shopping, errands, and transportation; work with dementia/Alzheimer’s clients. Provide companionship by engaging in daily activities with the patient/client. Assist with pet services, including grooming, feeding, walking, bathing, etc. Represent the company positively, fostering respect and courtesy for clients and other employees, and promote safety and well-being of all clients and employees. Provide general assistance and care to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the patient/client and family. Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policy, ensuring timely submission. Immediately report any changes in patient/client’s needs, condition, or incidents to the supervisor in a timely manner. Listen and respond to patient/client’s needs sensitively and timely, taking initiative or referring to the supervisor as appropriate. Professional Conduct & Development Attend and participate in internal staff development programs and obtain continuing education as required by company policy and regulation. Maintain and enhance clinical practice skills. Perform other duties as assigned in response to patient/client, office, and/or facility needs. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Other Duties and Responsibilities Report for work on time and prepared to assume duties. Communicate effectively both verbally and written. Utilize strong social work skills and ability to connect with individuals of all ages. Adhere to company dress code and wear company name badge in a visible place. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Offer assistance as needed or direct individuals to appropriate resources with proper follow through. Comply timely with all requirements related to risk management, safety, infection control, TB screening, security, and fire as appropriate. Provide a safe environment for clients, employees, and others. Assume responsibility for mandatory in-services, certification, and/or licensure competencies. Prerequisites A. Education High school graduation or GED required. The candidate must have successfully completed a training program if required by state regulation or contract. B. Direct Previous Experience Two years’ experience in a similar position desired but not required. Two years’ experience working with the elderly desired but not required. C. Skills/Competencies Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. Ability to work with minimal or close supervision. Conduct all business in a professional manner and with a high level of confidentiality. Pass competency testing on hire and ongoing for topics including meal preparation, housekeeping, infection control, safety in the home, handling emergencies, transportation, pet walking and care. D. Other Qualifications Have an updated Android or iPhone smartphone device. Current listing with no substantial findings on state Aide Registry, if applicable. Must have a valid driver’s license with proof of insurance. E. Abilities Work indoors most of the workday (fluorescent lights, HVAC, carpeted/vinyl flooring, normal housing noise). Provide a reliable means of transportation as required. Possess the physical ability to perform job-related duties requiring lifting, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, pulling, and provide partial or complete assistance with non-personal activities of daily living. Work in time-sensitive or stressful situations. Sit in a chair or stand for extended periods. F. Travel Ability to commute to various client locations throughout the workday and week. G. Working Conditions 50-90% of work performed in a client’s home; possible exposure to malodorous, infectious, body fluids, and odors from cleaning agents. Eligibility to drive on company business and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Driver requirements: age 21-70 (or over 70 with physician statement), valid license, no expired licenses, no denied or revoked license within last 3 years, no suspended licenses or more than two suspensions in last 3 years, no more than two at-fault accidents within 3 years, no more than three moving violations within 5 years, no DUI, DWI, or other serious violations.
