Cloud Architect

A well-established engineering and environmental consulting firm is hiring a full-time IT Cloud Architect to serve as a senior technical leader within their IT organization. This is a direct hire opportunity with a company that has a national footprint and a mature IT environment built heavily around Microsoft Azure. The role carries real strategic weight -- you will be shaping cloud architecture decisions, leading migration efforts, and setting the standards the broader IT and development teams follow. Required Skills & Experience 8 or more years of experience in IT architecture with a focused emphasis on cloud computing Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Active Directory, cloud security, and governance Proven experience leading cloud migration projects from assessment through execution and optimization Strong understanding of networking, security, virtualization, and storage in cloud environments Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration Working knowledge of IT security control frameworks including NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC-2, or equivalent Strong Active Directory and Group Policy administration skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field -- Master's degree preferred Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences Experience with Agile, DevOps, or other modern IT delivery methodologies Willingness to occasionally work outside standard business hours and travel as needed Desired Skills & Experience Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform in addition to Azure Project management experience in multi-team or enterprise IT environments Background in regulated industries where compliance documentation and audit readiness are routine What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown Microsoft Azure architecture, administration, and governance Cloud security standards and policy enforcement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or equivalent Active Directory and identity management CI/CD pipeline oversight and DevOps collaboration Daily Responsibilities 50% Architecture, design, and strategic cloud planning 30% Hands on implementation, migration work, and troubleshooting 20% Mentorship, documentation, and cross-team collaboration The Offer Market-competitive compensation Profit sharing funded by the company You will receive the following benefits: Medical Insurance Dental Benefits Vision Benefits Paid Holidays and Paid Time Off 401(k) with company contribution Continuing education assistance and tuition reimbursement Professional development and advancement opportunities Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future.
