MRI Technologist

Responsibilities Demonstrate the ability to obtain quality MRI images of patients. Comply with MRI safety guidelines for patients, staff and self. Operate MRI equipment safely, including screening all patients for contraindications. Perform all necessary computer operations. Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner and always identify patients using the proper protocols. Prepare MRI scanner and perform quality control tests. Assist the radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medication, contrast agents, and all types of care to the patient during MRI procedures. Review each exam for technical accuracy and identify anatomical orientation on all images. Demonstrate willingness to assist in additional duties. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients. Complete and maintain educational requirements. Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year experience as MRI Technologist. Preferred: Multiple years’ experience as a certified staff MRI Technologist. Education Required: Graduate of accredited approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure. Licensing and Certification Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology OR ARRT‑MRI Technology (6‑month grace period) OR American Registry of MRI Technology ARMRIT (6‑month grace period). BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through American Red Cross (30‑day grace period). Preferred: American Society of Radiologic Technology; Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology.
