Job Description

A long standing company in the RTP area has an immediate need for a Controller to lead all financial operations. This role offers significant ownership of the finance function, direct interaction with executive leadership, and the opportunity to influence business performance in a highly autonomous environment. The position is well suited for a hands-on finance leader who enjoys remaining involved in the day-to-day accounting activities while also providing strategic financial guidance to leadership.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
\n
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and management reports to support business decision-making.
\n
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that promote financial accuracy and accountability.
\n
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities across the organization.
\n
• Monitor business performance and provide variance analysis, financial insights, and recommendations to leadership.
\n
• Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and working capital requirements while maintaining banking relationships.
\n
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and financial reporting obligations.
\n
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting process improvements and operational efficiencies.
\n
• Partner with cross-functional leaders on strategic initiatives, financial projects, and organizational growth objectives.

Requirements:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, CPA is highly preferred
\n
• Industry experience in life sciences, medical devices, or clinical research organizations is required
\n
• Progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including responsibility for financial reporting and close processes.
\n
• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management principles.
