Lateral Police Officer

Salary: $84,893 – $113,371 Position Summary: The Village is accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers. This position is responsible for maintaining public safety by enforcing State laws and local ordinances. Some duties of this role include responding to emergency calls for service, conducting crime prevention operations, and investigating criminal activity. A successful candidate will be knowledgeable of law enforcement and criminal justice principles, skilled in the application of federal, State, and local laws and ordinances, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to carry out the essential duties of the position. Requirements: Must have been awarded a certificate attesting to the applicant’s successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course or a waiver by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, as provided in the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/1 et seq.) Out of State Laterals must provide a certificate from the state they are currently employed with that shows their Academy Graduation or Basic LE Certification. Must be currently serving as sworn law enforcement on a full-time basis for a municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency. Must be currently employed in good standing with his/her respective law enforcement agency. Citizen of the United States with a valid driver’s license at the time of hire. Successfully complete at least sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university. Have corrected far vision to 20/40 or better and corrected near vision to 20/20, possess normal peripheral vision, and the ability to distinguish colors. Meet mental, medical, physical, and psychological standards established by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and be able to successfully complete such screening examinations.
