Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool Falls Church, VA, United States (On-site) Job Description Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Pediatric Critical Care team. You will have the opportunity to support a variety of specialized Pediatric Critical Care units across the hospital including NICU, PICU, PCICU, PIMC, PHOOT (Peds Hematology oncology and Trauma), Peds Med-Surg. Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities: Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record Minimum Qualifications: Certification: Basic Life Support; If Critical Care unit, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support upon start; If Pediatric unit, Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse; if Critical Care Unit, minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree; If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend, 2) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date, 3) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses, and 4) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
