About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - ICU experience - Ability to run codes - Experience with titrating drips - Previous travel experience preferred Description: The intensive care unit has 8 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3. Some patients may present with lower acuity. Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical, general surgical, stroke, DKA, pneumonia, and alcohol withdrawal. RNs are expected to manage post-catheterization recovery and to run codes within the facility. Other RNs will provide support during code events. The unit operates with primary care nursing principles. There is an eICU service at night for some beds. It is preferred that candidates have Meditech experience. RNs are responsible for monitoring strips but there is no dedicated monitor technician. Titrating drips such as Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, and Insulin is required. Charge nurses take assignments but remain patient-free. Care Support staff, including a CNA, assist as needed when acuity warrants. Clientists are in-house 24/7 during the day. Staffing needs are census-based, and there are typically nurses on duty even without patients. Travelers with prior employment at any relevant locations are required to disclose this information. Weekend shifts include every other weekend, and holiday shifts are part of the rotation. Full patient loads may require floating to MedSurg, Tele, or ER units. Professional scrub colors are permitted.
