Role Description This full-time, on-site CDL-B Driver role is based in Brooklyn, NY and focuses on the safe transportation of students to and from school and related activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating a school bus or similar vehicle along assigned routes, following all traffic laws and company procedures, and maintaining a high level of safety at all times. The driver conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reports any mechanical or safety issues, and keeps the interior and exterior of the vehicle in clean, orderly condition. The role involves assisting students with boarding and exiting the bus when needed, maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus, and communicating professionally with school staff, dispatch, and supervisors. CDL-B Drivers are expected to attend required training sessions, remain current on safety and regulatory updates, and reliably follow schedules in varying traffic and weather conditions. Qualifications Commercial driving proficiency, including CDL Class B license (CDL Class A experience is beneficial), safe Truck Driving, and familiarity with operating a school bus or similar Truck. Knowledge of DOT Regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies, with the ability to apply them consistently in daily operations. Experience with basic vehicle checks and light duties such as Unloading or securing equipment, and reporting maintenance needs promptly. Strong safety mindset, reliable punctuality, and the ability to follow routes and schedules in urban environments such as Brooklyn, NY. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with students, families, school staff, and team members. Ability to pass background checks, drug and alcohol screenings, and meet all local, state, and federal requirements for school bus drivers. Comfort with ongoing training, including defensive driving, student management, and emergency procedures; prior school transportation experience is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr First Student
