As an Engineer 3, you will serve as the subject matter expert for highly
complex, automated plastics manufacturing solutions, with a primary focus on
injection molding. This role is responsible for implementing, optimizing, and
sustaining new and existing manufacturing processes to drive improvements in
efficiency, product quality, and total cost. You will bring deep expertise in
tooling design and molding operations, enabling meaningful participation and
leadership in design for manufacturability efforts, mold design reviews, and
mold flow simulation reviews. The Engineer 3 partners closely with
cross‑functional teams including Production, Quality, Supplier Quality, R&D,
Safety, Purchasing, and Maintenance to troubleshoot complex issues, drive
continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the highest standards of safety,
reliability, and environmental compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Receives assigned total project leadership responsibilities on a portion of
major significant projects and will be given total management responsibility
for smaller projects.
* Manages and provides leadership for the functional group’s development,
direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and
processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives.
- Implements and understands FDA or regulatory requirements as necessary.
- Applies technology principles to multiple tasks. Working knowledge of
cross-functional and related technical areas.
* Highlights risks and understands how to approach and complete tasks, avoiding
serious delays and considerable expenditure of time and resources.
* Advises team members pro-actively on technical ideas and promotes skill
development of teamwork.
- Interacts with peers across projects to secure resources and commitments.
- Handles frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical
issues associated with specific projects: Molding processing, Tooling design
and repair, Secondary operations (assembly, welding, packaging for example).
* Follows technical specification requirements and provides feedback on various
technical processes and procedures.
* Presents effectively complex technical information/analysis and responds to
questions from technical staff members and management.
* Works cooperatively and effectively within a team environment to achieve
common goals and results, often influencing the outcome of the team(s).
* Analyzes process information to refine maintenance procedures or initiate
equipment modifications.
- Works to support dept. KPI’s/Metrics/Objectives.
- Implements permanent corrective actions to eliminate recurrent problems by
developing the concept, prototype, design, documentation and modification of
engineering control documents.
- Coordinates the work of outside mold makers, contractors, and vendors.
- Continues to develop technical skills and knowledge (e.g. additional
schooling, self-study, online training), and from more knowledgeable team
members
* Utilizes root-cause analysis tools to properly identify issues and guide
corrective actions.
- Work direction responsibility may include technicians and junior engineers.
- May work with manufacturing, quality and other functional groups on
manufacturing and regulatory compliance issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to
successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience.
- Two years of GMP manufacturing experience required.
Skills
* Experienced and a strong understanding with regards to injection molding,
plastics processing, plastic extrusion, tooling and assembly and awareness of
polymer behaviors. Medical device knowledge of resin processing including
Polyesters and PVC (semi rigid and rigid), Polycarbonate, ABS.
* Hands-on injection molding set-up and process development experience and
knowledge of mold design and construction to a level of being able to carry
out a mold design review and understand basic tooling functionality and
methodology of manufacture (machining, EDM, polishing, texturing)
- Experience with mold maintenance including mold configurations without error.
- Requires demonstrated skills in technical innovation, technical leadership,
mechanical and or chemical engineering, fluids engineering, and cellular
biology.
* Strong interactive skills in general communication, cross-functional
participation and influence, mentoring and acceptance of guidance, technical
leadership, project management, coordination with cross-functional team
members, team behavior, and support for subordinates, junior engineers,
technicians, and management.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical and electronic ability aptitude to assist with equipment
troubleshooting.
* Knowledge and ability to implement FDA or regulatory requirements as
necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them
effectively.
* Critical thinking ability which requires using logic and reasoning in order
to identify the strength and weaknesses of alternative solutions or
approaches to problems in both technical and non-technical areas.
LOCATION
Lakewood, Colorado - Onsite - Open to candidates willing to relocate to the
area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective
equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing,
stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50
pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.
- Requires the ability to sit or stand through the duration of a shift.
- Requires the ability to use hand tools to sufficiently meet torque
requirements on bolts. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to
operate within tight spaces. Strength, agility, dexterity to climb ladders,
move in/out/on the equipment to support set-ups and maintenance.

Target Pay Range: $105,800.00 to $132,300.00 - Salary to be determined by the
education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant,
internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base: 7.0%
