Epic Builders are highly trained Certified Programmer/Analysts/Builders. Epic is the software that runs an entire hospital (clinical, surgeries, billing, admittance, scheduling) it is basically the ERP system for everything that goes on in a hospital from the simple prescription of an aspirin to a patient's surgery to billing an insurance company millions of dollars for reimbursement.

Epic Builders must go through an extensive amount of training to get their first certification. The certification costs a minimum of ****,000 and requires projects and passing of a challenging certification test. These builders can get additional certifications to have access to program in other modules in Epic. Epic's software is absolutely not plug-and-play software. It is HIGHLY customized to each hospital. Every hospital has their own specific workflows that are not repeatable to other hospitals. When Epic is implemented, upgraded, or modified, ONLY EPIC CERTIFIED BUILDERS have access to do the programming and building work in the application. Epic will not allow anyone without the training and certification to touch the master files in the application or have access to the Epic User Web. If you don't have access to the Epic User Web, you can't build in their system. This is extremely regulated because this software deals with hospital and personal data (HIPAA), scheduling surgeries (life altering implications for someone) and billing and reimbursement for services (millions or billions of dollars for the hospital) to name a few key areas. Epic Certified Builders are also required to do New Version Training each year for each new version of Epic and can lose their certification if they don't pass additional training to program the software.
