This position helps ensure meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up in a safe, sanitary, and efficient manner.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesLearn and follow the food service routine in a timely mannerSet up meal trays accurately and efficientlyAssist with serving meals to residentsStrip returned trays and wash dishesOperate the dishwasher and monitor dishwashing cyclesCheck and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwasher at the beginning of shiftPrepare nourishments and snacks as directedSweep and mop kitchen areasCarry out trash and garbagePut groceries and supplies away in a safe, clean, and orderly mannerClean work surfaces, refrigerators, and kitchen equipmentMaintain floors and work areas in a clean and sanitary conditionLeave the kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary at the end of shiftAssist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as neededParticipate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staffWork cooperatively with staff across all departmentsSupervisory RequirementsThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrior dietary, food service, or healthcare experience preferred but not requiredSkills & AbilitiesAbility to read and follow recipesAbility to read and understand technical proceduresAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsBasic math skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportionsStrong teamwork and communication skillsAbility to solve practical problems and seek assistance when neededCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's CertificatePhysical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pullingOccasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingAbility to lift up to 50 pounds frequentlyFrequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smellingVisual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with ability to adjust focusWork EnvironmentThe work environment is representative of a skilled nursing facility kitchen setting.
