Location and Compensation $15,000 Sign On Bonus - plus Lump Sum Relocation Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway Address: 100 Medical Pkwy, Lakeway, TX (Suburb of Austin, TX) Work Schedule: 4-10 Hour shifts – 7:00–5:30 with minimal to no weekend calls Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital. Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin, on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. The community offers golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65‑mile lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. Facilities and Equipment Three procedure suites with two GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips) and a Siemens biplane system. 12 private pre/post holding rooms. Procedures include Cardiology (left heart catheterization, PFO closure, STEMI/MI, mechanical device insertions, lithotripsy, thrombectomy, renal stenting, peripheral vascular, PCI); Interventional Radiology (kyphoplasty, port‑a‑cath placements, biopsies, cryoablations, uterine artery embolization, prostate embolization, GI bleed embolization, thrombectomy, percutaneous drain placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, fistulograms); Electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation, cryo‑ablation, pulse‑field ablation). Population: varied adult patients. Job Summary The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who applies the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. The RN assesses patients, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops individualized care plans, implements interventions, and evaluates patient responses. The RN promotes safe patient passage, ensures smooth transitions, and delegates interventions in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act. Essential Functions of the Role Use clinical reasoning to conduct accurate assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop and evaluate care plans, and modify plans to achieve outcomes. Evaluate nursing practice quality and effectiveness, support evidence‑based practice changes, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Create an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment, developing therapeutic relationships and managing emotional and physical pain. Recognize and honor each patient’s and family’s unique differences, integrating culture, beliefs, gender, race, ethnicity, lifestyle, status, age, and values into the care plan. Act as an advocate, preserving confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights, and addressing ethical and clinical concerns. Facilitate learning for patients, families, nursing staff, health‑care team, and community, integrating education throughout care. Collaborate with colleagues and community to implement care plans, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring timely follow‑up. Apply systems thinking to problem‑solve, recognizing limited resources while maintaining safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. Participate in governance and decision‑making processes, pursue ongoing professional growth through continuing education, and contribute to peer development and community service. Key Success Factors Knowledge and expertise in nursing and patient care standards. Familiarity with laws, regulations, and hospital and department protocols. Understanding of medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention and management; knowledge of medications and their effects. Knowledge of nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Social skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to observe and communicate changes in patients’ medical conditions. Provide age‑specific, quality, patient‑centered care through the nursing process, respecting diversity. General computer skills: Microsoft Office, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited nursing program or possess two years of work experience above the minimum. Registered Nurse (RN) license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire. At least two years of nursing experience. Knowledge of hospital and department standards, policies, procedures, regulations, and medical terminology.
