Field Service Engineer II, Chromatography

Field Service Engineer II supporting chromatography instrument installation, maintenance, and repair for Thermo Fisher Scientific. Based in Alabama/Georgia region with up to 75% travel, this role involves onsite technical service, customer support, and troubleshooting of complex analytical equipment across research and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IC and HPLC chromatography instruments at customer sites
- Diagnose electronics, mechanical, vacuum, high-voltage, and system-level issues to restore instrument performance
- Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance practices, and basic troubleshooting
- Document field service activities and submit installation and service reports through required systems
- Manage territory scheduling, travel planning, parts coordination, and customer communications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, physics, engineering, chemistry, or related technical field plus 2+ years instrument service experience
- Expertise troubleshooting and repairing IC and HPLC chromatography instruments
- Strong diagnostic abilities for hardware, software, and component-level electrical and mechanical issues
- Excellent customer communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to read technical schematics, engineering drawings, and documentation
- Valid driver's license; legally authorized to work in United States without sponsorship
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and work in laboratory/cleanroom environments
