Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 candidate eligibility list Paramedic position. The eligibility list will remain in effect for 12 months, or until exhausted. This eligibility list will be utilized to fill open vacancies, as needed, in the next 12 months.

Through our values-driven team, we provide structural and wildland fire protection, emergency advanced life support, ambulance transport, hazardous materials response and emergency rescue. KCFD1 is comprised of 69 line personnel who provide coverage through 4 fire stations. In 2025 our team responded to 9,346 calls for service.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for carrying out the duties assigned by the supervising Company Officer. EMS personnel are required to work in strict compliance with all rules and regulations that govern Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1). This position responds to call for basic and advanced life support emergency medical services, during day to day operations, and mass casualty and man-made/natural disasters; performs Inter-facility Transports including treatment to scope; provides EMS standby at events and incidents, provides non-emergency medical treatment according to Standing Orders; operates KCFD1 vehicles, specialized equipment, and tools; assists in routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of KCFD1 vehicles, equipment, facilities, and tools; and may be responsible for project work.

Annual Salary with incentive: $66,241.08 - $72,579

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications/licenses

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License & be willing to obtain Oregon license and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment
  • Oregon or National Registry EMT-P
  • Oregon Paramedic License (by date of hire)* Applicants licensed in another state may apply for licensure by reciprocity through Oregon Health Authority.
  • ACLS Certification
  • Current CPR card
  • EVOC certified, NFPA Driver, or equivalent (must earn within probationary year)
  • OSHA equivalent HazMat Emergency Responder Awareness and Operations (must earn within probationary year)
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700 (must earn within probationary year)

Submission deadline is Tuesday August 31st 2026. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than Wednesday September 2nd.
