RESPONSIBILITIES- Sign on bonus $2500.00 Job Specific Competencies:
Education:
Conditions common to a clinic environment including communicable disease, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and toxic substances, hazardous materials. Fast-paced medical office environment involving contact and interaction with patients, physicians, and other clinical and non-clinical personnel. BENEFITS
- Use equipment and instruments including microscopes, microtomes and other lab equipment.
- Receive specimen/tissue from procedures, operating room, diagnostic procedures and/or other autopsy.
- Sort specimen according to priority and difficulty of procedures and records in pathology log.
- Embeds specimens into blocks and fixes tissue in formalin.
- Operates instrumentation for tissue dehydration, section clearing, impregnation with paraffin, cutting tissue section, and staining of slides.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Histotechnology program
- Minimum experience as a Histology Technician or have a minimum of one year of training under the direction of a registered Histology Technologist
- Licensing and Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Histotechnologist (HTL)
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. face mask, goggles, latex/no latex gloves) as needed
- Ability to work effectively within the role independently and with other team members
- Ability to organize and complete work task in a timely manner
- Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English
- Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology
