Manufacturing Engineer
We're looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success – and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.
As a Manufacturing Engineer in Blaine, MN, you will own manufacturing projects from start to finish. You will troubleshoot manufacturing issues and lead root cause analysis (RCCA) to implement effective, lasting solutions. The role involves managing Engineering Change Orders and supporting CAPEX requests while mentoring a small team of engineering technicians. This is a great opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new facility as we continue to grow our Data Solutions manufacturing capabilities.
This role will work onsite, 5 days a week in Blaine, MN.
What You Will Experience In This Role:
- Lead manufacturing projects from concept through implementation, including developing project plans, establishing timelines, coordinating cross-functional resources, handling project budgets, monitoring key work, and ensuring manufacturing solutions are implemented safely, efficiently, and in accordance with nVent's engineering, quality, and operational requirements.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes, production workflows, equipment utilization, labor efficiency, material movement, and facility layouts; find opportunities for improvement and apply Lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen events, 5S methodologies, standardized work, and continuous improvement techniques to reduce waste, increase throughput, improve productivity, and support operational excellence initiatives.
- Support capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects by identifying equipment and process improvement opportunities, developing technical specifications, preparing cost justifications and return-on-investment analyses, coordinating installation activities, validating equipment performance, and ensuring new machinery and production systems meet manufacturing, safety, quality, and capacity requirements.
- Design, develop, evaluate, and implement manufacturing fixtures, tooling, job aids, and process improvements that enhance production efficiency, improve product quality, reduce variation, improve ergonomics, and support safe and repeatable manufacturing operations.
- Address manufacturing, equipment, process, quality, and production issues by capturing and analyzing data. Perform root cause analysis and investigate corrective actions. Assess process performance and implement corrective and preventive steps. Ensure the efficiency of solutions to maintain balanced operational improvements.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by evaluating proposed product and process changes, assessing manufacturing impacts, coordinating implementation activities across engineering and operations teams, updating work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing specifications, and ensuring changes are accurately incorporated into production processes.
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality, supply chain, production, maintenance, and operations teams to evaluate product manufacturability, support new product introductions, resolve technical challenges, improve process capability, and achieve manufacturing, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, training, and mentorship to manufacturing engineering technicians and production personnel. Support problem-solving activities, facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, develop technical knowledge, and promote standard methodologies in production engineering and process improvement.
You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related engineering discipline required.
- Experience evaluating, improving, and implementing manufacturing processes within a production environment.
- Experience leading root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, process optimization techniques, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks and experience developing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing aids.
- Experience working with enterprise systems, including MRP/ERP and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, process capability studies, and data-driven manufacturing decision making.
- Strong technical writing, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
