Our valued client is seeking a senior-level accounting leader to join their organization on a full-time basis. This position will play both a strategic and hands-on role in all daily accounting operations, including providing oversight and operational execution to all areas of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax, audit, general ledger and implementation of generally accepted accounting principles.

This is a new position/addition to staff and positioning the company for extensive growth. The individual in this role will report to the CFO and will be integral in helping transform and streamline systems and processes for efficiency in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and inspire an accounting team focused on providing high-quality services to teams across the business.
• Leverage deep knowledge of accounting practices, spearheading the transition from cash basis to GAAP-based accounting.
• Orchestrate successful audit initiatives, playing an integral role in leading auditors through the audit process.
• Coordinate with the team to build and manage controls, processes, and procedures.
• Cultivate an innovative environment with a focus on identifying continuous improvement opportunities to streamline processes and systems aligned with best practices.
• Examine accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
• Manage accounting systems, ensuring technology is in place that is scalable to support the business plans for growth.
• Perform reconciliation(s) of Balance Sheet accounts.
• Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Perform monthly close functions, including journal entries and schedule preparation.
• Daily assistance with cash management activities.
• Readies and maintains financial and business tractions that require an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
• Project accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on capital investments and overall financial condition.
• Analyze financial information detailing assets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
• Manage and guarantee weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes to employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
• Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
• Process bi-weekly payroll.
• Communicate actively with Operations, Sales, and Human Resources to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing.
• Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
• Special Projects as required.

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience, including experience in an accounting leadership role. CPA strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, Reconciliations, Financial Statements, and Reporting
• Experience with utilizing technology, including QuickBooks and, ideally, other ERP systems.
• Expert knowledge of Excel
• Experience with multi-state payroll
• Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels
• Ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance.
