School Psychologist

School Psychologist – LASEC Office/Partner Districts Term: 10 months, per school district of assignment. Salary Range: $63,500 (experience considered). Position Summary The school psychologist position involves participation in the MTSS and problem‑solving process, data‑based decision making, conducting psychological evaluations, providing counseling and direct service interventions, consulting and collaborating with all school personnel and parents, and developing programs and staff training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge and skill in using psychological instruments to evaluate students. Knowledge of child and adolescent development and psychopathology. Ability to establish goals for the psychology program appropriate to the setting and the students served. Knowledge of state and federal regulations and of resources both within and beyond the school and district. Ability to integrate with the regular school program, to meet the needs of individual students and including prevention. Ability to establish rapport with students. Supports a culture for positive mental health throughout the school. Supports and maintains clear procedures for referrals. Supports standards of conduct for testing and evaluation. Organizes physical space for testing of students and storage of materials. Responds to referrals; consults with teachers and administrators. Evaluates students in compliance with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) guidelines. Demonstrated leadership of evaluation team in assigned districts. Plans interventions to maximize students’ likelihood of success. Maintains contact with physicians and community mental health service providers as needed to meet the needs of students involved in the special education process/services. Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Reflects on practice as a school psychologist and team member. Communicates with families. Maintains accurate records. Participation in a professional learning community. Engages in professional development. Demonstrates professionalism. Maintain certification in behavior intervention strategies, and when requested, become certified as a trainer of behavior intervention strategies. Other duties as assigned by LASEC administration or assigned member district administration. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervision of interns and clinical students. Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements Professional Educator License with school psychologist endorsement. Bilingual skills, preferred. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s license and automobile insured for school travel between school sites. Skills Required Ability to read and interpret qualitative and quantitative student assessment data. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to collaborate with professionals across disciplines and families. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with students in a school setting. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, operate a computer, sit, and to reach with hands and arms, and will repeat actions with the same hand, arm, or finger motion. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, such as files or testing protocols/instruments. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Long‑term use of computer monitors is required. Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. However, on occasion, the noise level will be moderate for a brief period of time. Work is conducted indoors. This work is normally conducted at LASEC office or the partner school district. Evaluation Job performance is evaluated in accordance to Cooperative guidelines by the Assistant Director and/or the Executive Director.
