About the Position

Job Title: Medical Lab Technician Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Medical Lab Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (06:30 - 15:30); Day 5x8.5-Hour (08:30 - 17:00) Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 1+ year in specialty License: Not specified Certifications: ASCP-MLS, ASCP-MLT, BLS Required. ASCP MT Preferred. Must-Have: Experience with Cerner preferred. Previous charge experience not applicable. Charting System experience preferred. Description: Certification in medical laboratory technology is required. Experience in accessioning and automated instrument use is necessary. Candidates should have skills in blood specimen storage and CBC manual methods. Knowledge of commercial or reference laboratories is preferred. Experience in hazardous materials management and MSDS is required. Familiarity with hormone/thyroid testing and immunoassays is essential. Experience in malarial examination is preferred. Management or lead experience is a plus. Proficiency in manual differential and both manual and microscopic urinalysis is required. Candidates should be skilled in PCR testing and pipetting. Ability to conduct platelet counts and urine or blood pregnancy tests is necessary. Proper disposal and labeling of specimens must be understood. Quality assurance and control experience are essential. Quick identification tests for strep serological and other general tests are necessary. Experience with rapid test kits for viruses and bacteria is preferred. Candidates should be capable of reporting test results and interpreting quality controls. Experience in semen analysis and knowledge of specific laboratory equipment is required. Proficiency in specimen collection, preparation, receipt, and transport is essential. Understanding of transmission-based precautions and performing venipuncture is necessary. Wet prep techniques for various analyses should be familiar to candidates. The daily census and patient volume should be manageable within the role. Candidates should be prepared to support interdisciplinary teams and patient diagnoses.
