We're seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer / Business Developer to join our growing traffic team in New York City. We are a close-knit team of 50+ professionals known for our collaborative spirit and strong relationships—both internally and with our clients. As a people leader you will be expected to be in the office three days a week to balance opportunities for collaboration and mentorship with the flexibility needed for a healthy work-life balance.Your OpportunityAs a key member of our team, you'll lead and support a variety of transportation projects that make a real impact:Actively participates and leads business development by delivering quality work, providing excellent client service, and assisting in preparing proposals on various pursuitsHelps lead our team of TPTE professionals. Manages resources to ensure projects are completed accurately and within budget and time frameTakes an active mentoring role; encourages, motivates, and develops staff for high performanceLeads transportation planning studies, traffic impact analyses, and safety assessments – including Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studiesParticipates in interviews and hiring of new staff membersCollaborate roadway and structural engineers on iterative design processesRepresents the organization at professional organizations and conferencesPresent technical concepts at public meetings and support stakeholder engagementAbout YouYou're passionate about creating safe, efficient, and equitable transportation systems. You bring:A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field and a PE license in NY, NJ, or CT; PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plusMinimum of 15 years of experience in transportation engineering, 8 years of experience in project management, and 5 years of experience working with NYDOT, CTDOT, and/or NJDOT.Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principlesDemonstrated skill at project management and business development.Proven track record coordinating teams from different disciplines and delivering large scale transportation projects.Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY, NJ, CT)Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for diverse audiencesProven leadership and ability to manage interdisciplinary teamsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesWhy Choose Stantec?We're proud to be recognized as one of New York's Best Places to Work.
