Software QA Engineer
The Software QA Engineer performs advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the Quality Assurance (QA) section of IT-SEDS (Information Technology – Statewide Education Data System). Work involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.
This position will work with the Multi-Apps development team to provide the following Software Testing Services:
- Analyze user requirements, design documents and other documentation to develop detailed test cases
- Create and execute automated functional and regression test cases against HTML, PDF, and Excel Reports, report and document all issues, test cases ran, test results, and testing summaries in detail
- Perform SQL queries to analyze and manipulate data
- Work with development team and customers to clearly understand the functionality under test to define and implement test case automation and clearly communicate to the team
- Execute performance and accessibility testing
- Perform manual testing and data validation
The QA group supports and facilitates the implementation of all apps/projects in the Texas Education Agency.
Candidate Skills and Qualifications

- 8 - Required - Testing complex Web Applications
- 8 - Required - Testing all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
- 5 - Required - Advanced Database/SQL Language
- 3 - Required - API, JSON, XML
- 2 - Required - Experience with WAPT Pro, Jmeter, or other performance testing tools
- 5 - Preferred - Experience testing reports
- 3 - Preferred - Experience in API testing (SOAP and REST)
- 2 - Preferred - Previous experience with Zephyr Scale preferred
- 2 - Preferred - Previous experience with JIRA preferred
