Job Overview Consultant Claims – CH08CE – The Hartford is an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. The Claim Consultant is an inside adjusting position focused on Motor Truck Cargo and Motor Truck Physical Damage (MTC/APD) claims, with flexibility to assist with other First Party Commercial Property and Inland Marine claims as business needs require. Responsibilities Plan and execute comprehensive claim strategies, including investigation, valuation, disposition, settlement, and reserving. Accurately assess exposure, manage priorities and vendors, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and communicate status to partners and management. Maintain a strong customer focus by gathering insights to improve services, building relationships, and diffusing high‑tension situations while meeting or exceeding expectations. Preserve recovery and subrogation rights against third parties; identify contractual and statutory recovery opportunities. Review and analyze transportation documentation and coverage for loss scenarios such as theft, load shift, temperature excursion, contamination, wet damage, spoilage, and disappearance. Qualifications College degree or minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on experience handling Motor Truck Cargo and/or Motor Truck Physical Damage claims. Demonstrated experience handling time‑sensitive transportation losses involving perishable or temperature‑sensitive cargo (strongly preferred). Experience with Commercial Property and Inland Marine claims beyond MTC/APD (preferred). State‑required adjusting licenses. Preferred designations: TRIP, AMIM, CCPAC, AIC, CPCU, CCP, and/or TRS. Commercial insurance experience required; Excess & Surplus Lines experience preferred. Work Arrangement This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Sunrise, FL; Scottsdale, AZ; Alpharetta, GA; and Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. For full‑time, occasional, part‑time, or remote positions, high‑speed broadband internet service is required, with minimum upload/download speeds of 10Mbps/75Mbps.
