Controller - Accounting Dept. FT Exempt

Full Time-Exempt Clerical Chester, IL, US Salary Range: $72,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually Memorial Hospital, a rural Critical Access Hospital, is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, audit preparation, and financial analysis. This position works closely with the CFO and serves as a key member of the Finance team. Key Responsibilities Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and financial reporting. Prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and Board reports. Coordinate annual operating and capital budgets. Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules. Assist with audits, Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, and regulatory reporting. Oversee Accounts Payable processes and supervise the Accounts Payable Specialist. Monitor cash management, contractual allowances, bad debt, and other financial analyses. Support chargemaster reviews and reimbursement-related activities. Perform CFO duties in the CFO's absence. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Minimum one year of hospital or non-governmental accounting experience, or two years of public/private accounting experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, formulas, and reporting tools. Preferred: Master's degree and/or CPA designation. Healthcare finance experience. Ideal Candidate Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment. Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
