Physician Assistant - HIA (Agency Temp)

Agency Temp Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – San Diego, CA HIA provides mobile street medicine services to patients experiencing homelessness. We are seeking an experienced PA or NP to provide direct care in San Diego from mid‑June to mid‑September. Responsibilities Conduct physical exams, wellness exams, and diagnostic tests including taking medical histories. Diagnose illnesses, interpret laboratory and imaging results, prescribing medications and developing treatment plans. Administer vaccinations, draw blood for lab tests. Educate patients and advise on prevention and management of chronic conditions. Collaborate with peer navigators, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Document patient visits accurately and timely, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Maintain a safe, efficient, and pleasant environment and ensure proper handling of biohazardous waste. Provide referrals internally and externally, and assist patients in insurance navigation. Report suspicious or unethical conduct and cooperate with investigations. Support HIA’s vision and goals and contribute to team effort. Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in PA program or Master of Science/Doctor of Nursing Practice. Current California PA or NP license in good standing. NPI and DEA license. Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Minimum 2+ years of experience as a PA or NP in a medical office, hospital, population health, or field setting. Experience providing direct patient care in underserved/outdoor environments, preferably with homeless or vulnerable populations. Experience with substance abuse and mental health disorders highly desired. Knowledge of MediCal insurance navigation. Strong interpersonal, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail. Computer literacy and ability to use diagnostic equipment. Physical ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, lift, pull, push and carry up to 15 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Valid CA driver’s license, state liability insurance, and reliable transportation. Required Licenses & Certifications California PA or NP license. NPI. DEA. First Aid/CPR/AED.
