Learning & Development Consultant

Position Title: Learning & Development Consultant - (26141552) The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Learning & Development Consultant. This position provides professional development, implementation, and management of training and development to support the department’s mission. The role administers, manages, develops, and delivers training statewide and provides professional coaching in one‑on‑one and group settings to aid employee development. It assists in the formulation of strategic workforce planning initiatives, advises on performance management, and contributes to workforce development. The position requires frequent overnight travel to MDT offices across the state. Certification in personality assessments such as Emotional Intelligence, Myers Briggs, Disc, Clifton Strength Finders or coaching certification is preferred. Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of adult learning principles, training methods, presentation techniques, and professional development. Ability to design and implement training courses for a variety of audiences. Strong communication, interpersonal awareness, and facilitation skills. Other Information: Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form authorizing the Department to obtain permanent driving records. Compliance with Montana Administrative Rule 2.6.201, “State Vehicle Use,” and MDT Policy#6.03.001, “State Vehicle Use Policy” are conditions of employment. The advertised salary includes the $1.00 increase passed by the 2025 Montana State Legislature regarding the state pay plan effective July1,2026.
