Summary:

We are hiring a cleaner/utility janitor for a manufacturing facility in the Norwich, CT area. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain high housekeeping standards across office, production, and outdoor areas. This position plays a key role in ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• General cleaning of offices, restrooms, break rooms, and production areas
• Floor care: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and operating a floor scrubber
• Cleaning ceiling vents, windows, walls, and common surfaces
• Restocking cleaning and restroom supplies
• Trash and debris removal inside and around the building
• Keeping walkways and aisles clear and clean
• Groundskeeping: mowing, trimming, weed removal, leaf and branch pickup
• Cleaning and prepping areas for interior and exterior painting
• Performing basic preventative maintenance on cleaning and yard equipment
• Following all safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Supporting sanitation efforts during flu/illness spikes
• Reporting supply needs and continuous improvement ideas
• Communicating cleanliness concerns from other employees to management
• Maintaining a clean, organized work center with minimal disruption to operations

Compensation:

Pay will be offered based on several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and specific job duties.
Hourly Rate: $18.00-$20.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift

Skills/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience as a janitor, cleaner, or groundskeeper preferred
• Ability to read and understand safety data sheets and cleaning procedures
• Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs, using ladders, and working on feet for long periods
• Able to ascend/descend stairs, bend, stoop, squat, reach, and twist as required
• Comfortable using a push broom, mop, floor scrubber, mower, weed eater, or snowblower
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
• Basic computer skills for inventory or safety training
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced industrial setting
• Exposure to hot or cold temperatures, depending on the season
• May work indoors and outdoors
• Surfaces may be uneven; appropriate footwear required
