Banquet Houseperson

Position Summary Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner. Essential Functions Correctly and efficiently set up and break down all department functions. (50%) Keep function room area and storage areas clean and neat at all times. (5%) Return all equipment not in use to proper storage area in clean condition before the end of each shift. (5%) Check electrical hook‑ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use. (5%) Service/freshen all meeting rooms during breaks. (10%) Assist guests whenever possible, referring all requests which are beyond scope of responsibility immediately to supervisor. (5%) Perform periodic deep cleaning of banquet areas. (5%) Non‑Essential Functions Be familiar with the various types of workable setups for each function room. (5%) Check temperature and see if all lights are working and adjusted properly. (5%) Working knowledge of AV equipment, assist AV person/guest as needed. (5%) Qualifications Education: No requirements. Experience: Prior labor intensive work experience preferred. Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak English. Ability to lift/push/carry 20-50 lbs. Travel Required: Local travel for outside catering functions. Hours Required: Flexible. Scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Physical Demands Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: Lifting 20–40 lbs. (Trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.). Pushing 50–100 lbs. (carts, Queen Marys, hot box, portable bar). Carry 20–40 lbs. (trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.). Bending/Kneeling: Ability to bend to lower level cabinets and banquet storage room. Bend to lift trays. Mobility: Maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests. Distance 100 ft – 100% of time. Continuous Standing: Standing required to service guest/functions; 100% of time scheduled. Climbing Stairs: Up to approx. 12 steps 20% of 8 hours. Driving: No driving required. Work Environment: Inside: 95% of 8 hours. Outside: 5% of 8 hours. Hearing: Moderate. Communicate with supervisor, co‑workers, guests. Vision: Moderate. Check cleanliness and set‑up. Speech: Minimal. Communicate with supervisor, coworkers, guests. Literacy: Moderate. Read and understand instructions on BEOs. Chemicals/Agents: Cleaning agents for silver, stainless steel and floor surfaces. 30% of time. Protective Clothing: Slip‑resistant footwear. Approx. 100% of scheduled shift.
