Senior Software EngineerIXL Learning, a leading developer of personalized learning products used by millions worldwide, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Unification Team—a high-impact group driving technical excellence across IXL and our family of brands.As a part of this team, you’ll work on large-scale, cross-functional engineering initiatives that unify infrastructure, standardize tools and processes, and create reusable, scalable, and reliable systems. Your efforts will drive smoother collaboration, faster development, and stronger product performance across the entire company.We’re looking for engineers who love solving complex technical challenges, thrive in collaborative environments, and are motivated by the opportunity to improve systems that support millions of learners.This position requires you to be in our San Mateo, CA, headquarters office.What You’ll Be DoingExecute strategic technical initiatives that deliver wide-reaching improvements to infrastructure and engineering workflowsIdentify and solve core technical problems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and reusabilityScope and execute complex projects from conception to deliveryCollaborate across teams and brands, partnering with application engineers and stakeholders to implement solutions at company-scalePropose and implement architectural improvements to support long-term growth and resilienceContribute hands-on through coding, infrastructure design, and system optimizationWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline6+ years of professional hands-on Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or Platform Engineering experienceExtensive experience with at least one programming language, e.g. Java, C++, Python, GoDeep experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)Strong understanding of backend systems—web servers, message queues, databases, load balancers, etc.Fluency in observability tools and methodologiesProven ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectivelyAbility to quickly learn and work with a variety of technologies, bringing a passion for improving systems and modernizing tech stacksThe base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 to $200,000 + equity + benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.
