Position: Registered Nurse I (RN I)

Shift: 12-Hour Rotating Nights

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse I (RN I) to provide safe and high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. The role involves implementing the complete nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Deliver direct patient care across diverse age groups while promoting optimal health outcomes.
• Provide clear and culturally sensitive education to patients and families, supporting health literacy and successful transitions of care.
• Direct and supervise licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary personnel.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the broader healthcare team.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety measures, and ongoing professional development.
• Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient care needs.

General Qualifications

• Current New Mexico RN license or active Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education and clinical experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the assigned department.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Able to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric.
• Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.

Physical, Environmental & Psychological Considerations

• Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
• Work occurs primarily in a temperature-controlled hospital setting with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
• Must be physically capable of lifting, positioning, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
• Able to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic clinical situations.

Department-Specific Qualifications: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)

• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required.
• OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months.
• SAFER NM Technician certification preferred.
• Skilled in all aspects of perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and sterile field maintenance required.
