Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care Float Pool to join the team. Our nurses have the unique opportunity to float to all five intensive care units at Fairfax Medical Campus: Trauma, Med/Surg, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Cardiac Critical Care.

Part-time Night Shift: Days Vary 7:00 p.m. 7:30 a.m.

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members.
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record.

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Additional Requirements:

• Work schedule: Two 12-hour Night Shifts: Days Vary 7:00 p.m. 7:30 a.m.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. If RNs have an Associate's Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1. Identify which school they plan to attend, 2. Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion; 3. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required prerequisites and timeline for taking the courses, and Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of Critical Care nursing experience. Preferred Candidates will have 2 years of CICU or ICU experience.
• Certification: BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
