Qualifications Minimum Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or field of instruction NC Certification/Teaching License or ability to receive a NC Teaching License Bachelor degree preferred Citizenship, residency, or work visa required Responsibilities Report to the Principal Read the middle school Responsive Advisory Meeting book and become familiar with middle school Responsive Classroom practices Implement Responsive Classroom Advisory with fidelity Use the Middle School Responsive Classroom approach to create a learning environment appropriate to student maturity Teach students to care and build relationships through positive behavior and language toward students, staff, and the community using Middle School Responsive Classroom practices in daily Advisory meetings Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Maintain a clean and organized classroom that supports learning and reflects respect for classrooms Implement daily routines and procedures that promote student responsibility for classroom cleanliness Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ACS curriculum by actively engaging in training and implementing instructional plans effectively Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times Plan a program of study aligned with the curriculum set forth by the administrative team Ensure the program meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities as much as possible Consistently review and analyze assessment data to drive instructional decisions Develop and implement Student Success Plans Use ECATS-MTSS System to: Write Success Plan Goals Collect and analyze data Maintain and update student intervention logs Provide small group differentiated instruction based on assessment data in reading and math, with written evidence of preparation meeting all ACS lesson plan requirements Implement core content workstations Prepare lessons with the team, providing written evidence of preparation meeting all ACS lesson plan requirements Plan and implement with the grade level team at least three standards-based projects aligned with NC Essential Standards per year Meet with grade level team to collaboratively plan weekly lessons Meet once per week with the Admin. Team to discuss curriculum and/or data Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives and communicating them to students Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, considering physical constraints and student needs Maximize technology integration (document camera, Smart TV, iPads, Chromebooks, etc.) in classroom instruction Strive to implement the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives Assess student achievements regularly, providing progress reports and report cards as required Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct, developing reasonable classroom rules, and maintaining order fairly and justly Seek assistance from support personnel, EC teachers, and facilitators as needed Keep accurate and complete records as required by law and administrative regulation Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers Strive to maintain and improve professional competence Attend meetings, school events, and serve on staff committees as required Comply with the Daily Check-in and Out System Read and understand the entire Employee Handbook Read and understand the entire Parent-Student Handbook Read, understand, and follow the ACS Employee Code of Ethics & General Standards of Conduct DISCLAIMER: This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
