Responsibilities & Qualifications The Novelis Uhrichsville is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of equipment within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to solve equipment issues, improve maintenance effectiveness, support capital projects, and ensure equipment reliability to meet production goals. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to develop practical solutions, implement process improvements, and manage numerous projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, quality, and cost control.ResponsibilitiesMaintenance of equipment covering all phases of heavy industrial plant engineering, typical of the metals industry. Provide a strong mechanical understanding of process, civil, and electrical components involved in their equipment. Responsible for troubleshooting encounters that center around meeting production needs in the face of tight, frequently revised schedules and/or equipment failures, the start-up of new equipment, development of new products and processes. Develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems that contribute to the effectiveness of the maintenance effort. Contribute engineering expertise to project work and selection of replacement or new equipment to help ensure consistency and standardization of components and ease of maintenance. Assist in the development of engineering or maintenance procedures and repair work to ensure they are safe, effective and efficient Responsible for managing multiple projects, efficiency, time, and budgets. Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable. Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering TechnologyMinimum 2-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organizationDesire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationshipPreferred Qualifications:Ability to organize and prioritize responsibility; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detailMust be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environmentMust also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectivesSolid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD2 - 5 years of Industrial experiencePlease note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification.
