Respiratory Therapist Registered - PRN

Clinical Skills Demonstrates proficiency in critical care procedures according to department policy and procedures including: Patient assessment Ventilator management Arterial punctures Code III response Bronchoscopy assistance Intubation Use of monitoring equipment Airway management Endo/Nasotracheal suctioning Arterial line placement Demonstrates proficiency in general care procedures including: Patient assessment Aerosol therapy IPPB CPT Oxygen therapy Incentive spirometry Aerochamber/inhaler Peak flow meters Quality Improvement & Quality Assurance Comproves commitment to continuous quality improvement through accurate monitoring and documentation. Actively participates in department and hospital quality initiatives. Reports patient incidents or near misses via the BeSafe portal. Participates in planning and problem‑solving activities. Education & Training Attends mandatory in‑services, training, and staff meetings. Maintains licensure and certifications required for the state of Louisiana and the profession. Completes in‑services related to job scope and regulatory requirements. Presents information from conferences and in‑services attended to benefit other staff members. Infection Control, Safety & Risk Management Adheres to BSI policies at all times. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately on the unit. Reports exposures appropriately. Performs treatments using aseptic technique when required. Follows infection control policies and procedures and enforces them with others. Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions through proper communication channels. Demonstrates adherence to all unit and hospital safety policies. Patient Communication Communicates treatment information clearly to facilitate patient or guardian understanding and participation. Respects confidentiality by avoiding discussion of information outside the treatment area. Seeks collaboration through the proper chain of command when problems arise. Licenses and Certifications American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Licensed Respiratory Therapist, Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Registered Respiratory Therapist, National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
