Sterling Engineering is partnering with an industry-leading manufacturer to hire an Electrical Design Engineer in New Berlin, WI. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity focused on designing electrical systems and control panels for large custom industrial equipment.You’ll work on projects from electrical design through testing and commissioning, with exposure to motor controls, drives, transformers, power distribution, and custom control panels. This is a great opportunity for an electrical engineer who enjoys seeing their designs move from drawings to actual equipment on the manufacturing floor.Location: New Berlin, WI 53151Salary: $90,000–$110,000Hire Type: Direct HireBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, and additional company-sponsored benefits.What You’ll DoDesign electrical systems for custom industrial equipment from concept through completionCreate and modify electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, interconnect drawings, and conduit drawingsDesign electrical control panels and custom enclosures for industrial equipmentPerform electrical calculations including wire sizing, transformer sizing, drive selection, braking resistors, contactors, overload protection, and other power distribution componentsSelect electrical components including motors, drives, transformers, breakers, contactors, and related control hardwareApply NEC requirements and applicable electrical design standards throughout the design processPartner with Project Managers, manufacturing, purchasing, service, and other engineering teams to keep projects movingSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), troubleshooting, and equipment validationAssist with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment startup, and commissioning as neededTroubleshoot electrical design and equipment issues alongside engineering and field service teamsRecommend design improvements to enhance equipment performance, reliability, manufacturability, and costWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field3+ years of electrical design experience within industrial equipment, machinery, automation, manufacturing, or a related environmentExperience creating and interpreting electrical schematics and electrical drawingsHands-on experience with electrical control panel designExperience with motor controls, drives, transformers, and industrial power distributionAbility to perform electrical design calculations including wire sizing, component sizing, and electrical protectionWorking knowledge of NEC requirementsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to collaborate with manufacturing and other engineering teamsAbility to travel approximately 15%Preferred ExperienceThese are helpful, but you do not need to check every box to be considered:UL508A knowledge or experienceAutoCAD ElectricalFactory Acceptance Testing (FAT) or Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)Equipment commissioning or startup experienceHeavy industrial equipment or custom machinery designPLC or HMI experience with Rockwell or SiemensExperience working directly with manufacturing or field service teams
