Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care Unit – Virginia

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Days, 3x12-hour shifts per week; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period; 13-week assignment; 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio

Highlights:

• Specialized intermediate care unit focused on pulmonary, cardiac, and trauma patients requiring advanced airway management
• Ventilator experience required – care for patients with tracheostomies, on ventilators, high flow oxygen, and BiPAP
• 22-bed progressive care unit with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Epic EMR system with accelerated training available for experienced users
• Diverse patient population including cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and medical-surgical overflow
• First-time travelers welcome – comprehensive orientation and onboarding provided

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
• Active Virginia RN license or Compact License required at time of application
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ventilator management experience required
• Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year
• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit experience required
• Comprehensive respiratory proficiency including high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, BiPAP, and ventilator care
• Competency in managing cardiac drips (both titration and non-titration), heparin protocols, central line and PICC line management
• Epic charting system experience strongly preferred; training provided based on experience level
• Willingness to assume charge nurse responsibilities (previous charge experience preferred)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered per CMS guidelines)
