Logistics Management Specialist

Summary As a Supply Chain Management (SCM) Team Member, the Logistics Management Specialist collaborates with Senior Management leadership and develops supply chain management strategies in support of the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. Learn more about this agency Duties Help The Logistics Management Specialist develops assigned Supply Chain metrics which identify businessobjectives and drives the right supply chain behaviors for planning and executing approved strategiesand providing supply chain expertise to improve supply availability with a focus on getting the rightmaterial, at the right time and right place to support the health care system. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply,distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination withrequired local personnel/activities. Serves as an integrator and/or facilitator for contact with supplychain management customers, ensuring Supply Chain Management Service is positioned to servethe full range of supply chain needs. Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support incoordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems.Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain defi ciencies affect the mission. Developsdesignated supply input for fi scal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material forreasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
- Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Develops ongoingstrategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements.Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices todevelop and apply concepts that best fi t and support Supply Chain requirements.
- Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management trainingopportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies andservices to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education andtraining documentation. Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays inmaintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability.

- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)

- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: assisting specialist and/or managers in supply chain management activities; analyze product delivery or supply chain processes to identify or recommend changes; performing or assisting with data analysis, and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities. This position requires some degree of specialized knowledge of logistics support activities in areas such as acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and/or control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations. OR,
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR,
- Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first two graduate years or 36 semester hours and specialized experience to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
