Bilingual Paraprofessional

Position: Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional Campus: Dickinson High School Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Paygrade: Per Compensation Manual Immediate Supervisor(s): Campus Principal and Teacher(s) Assigned Days Employed: Per Compensation Manual POSITION SUMMARY:
- Provide supplemental assistance for the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements when working with identified ESL or Bilingual students
- Work under the supervision of a certified teacher
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have completed 30 college hours; OR
- Met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessment
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with students and staff
- Bilingual (written and oral)
- Some experience working with children
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom this includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty
- Keep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual students
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- Copier, computer, audiovisual equipment
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting
