Environmental Scientist/Biologist

ELOS Environmental, an Aventia Company (ELOS) is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist/Biologist. ELOS’s expertise is ensuring environmental compliance with Federal, State, and Local enforcement agencies. Our goal is to assist clients in developing an approach to environmental compliance that balances development with natural and cultural resources protection.ELOS’s new Environmental Scientist/Biologist will support and manage new and existing projects, assist with business development, management and creative problem solving. A proven track record of environmental investigation and compliance will be needed to author and review technical reports such as wetland delineation reports, mitigation plans, ongoing monitoring activities, etc. This personable team member will have direct regulatory interface assisting clients with their regulatory needs by coordinating activities with relevant agency personnel. The successful candidate must be motivated to identify, pursue, and broaden ELOS’s client base and industry presence, while providing exceptional attentiveness to our current client needs. The successful candidate must also be detail oriented, have strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects.Responsibilities:Manages and conducts studies and investigations for the purpose of preparing reports (Wetland Delineation Reports, Permit Documents, Mitigation Banking Documents, NEPA Documents, etc.) and applications for environmental permits and regulatory compliance in support of projects for various industries and marketsCollects, analyzes, and reports ecological data, such as plant taxonomy, protected terrestrial and aquatic animal species, soil conditions and hydrology indicators related to establishing boundaries of protected resourcesProvide oversight, review, and interpretation of data as part of new or ongoing investigations, mitigation, or monitoring projectsHelps lead and organize team for project field effortsCommunicates scientific and technical information to the project teamPrepares and reviews environmental reports, permits, and related materialsAssists public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and complianceHelps develop lasting professional relationships with current clients through quality client supportEngage new clients through professional networking, marketing, and exceptional customer service and supportPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s or advanced degree in [biology, ecology, rangeland sciences, wildlife management or related field]1-2 years' experienceUnderstanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulationsKnowledge of Clean Water Act Regulatory Program, Endangered Species Act as they relate to environmental permittingSolid organizational and technical writing skillsEffective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skillsArticulate with professional presence and decision-making skillsAbility to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work existsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and applicable industry-related software packagesMust be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, including walking at least 3-5 miles of rugged terrain of remote locations, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 poundsWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Ability to travel as required, up to 50% or more; overnight travel, regional travel by car, and/or travel by plane may be required. Must be able to produce appropriate documentation to be able to rent/drive a car, drive a boat, or fly (i.e., REAL ID, boaters license).Overtime may be required, including evenings and weekends.Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.). Must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, including standing for long periods of time and walking at least 1-5 miles of varied terrain.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and perform hands-on field labor.Ability to stand, bend, lift, and kneel during field activities.Ability to wear required PPE in compliance with client and company field safety protocolsComfortable using digital tools such as tablets, GPS, and mapping software.Must be willing to support out-of-town project operations for extended periods of time.Job Type: Full-timeExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to Relocate:Hammond, LA 70403: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person #J-18808-Ljbffr
