Party Chief/Project Surveyor (Field to Finish)

Party Chief / Survey Technician (Field‑to‑Finish) Location: San Francisco, California or Nevada (hybrid – remote or from a Jacobs office). The position involves a one or two‑person field crew; approximately 50% of time in the field and 50% in the office. Field Duties Perform control, boundary, topographic, laser‑scanning and other surveys. Conduct construction staking. Collect survey data using GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, levels, and survey controllers. Produce clear and concise field notes and quality data. Communicate project details to supervisors and office staff. Work outdoors in variable weather and terrain. Office Duties Set up field crew. Plan and design geodetic control networks. Process and adjust control surveys. Prepare construction staking and perform quality checks. Process topographic field data and generate, edit, and clean Digital Terrain Models (DTM). Review title commitments. Conduct public records research. Perform COGO calculations and resolve boundaries. Write property descriptions. Obtain permits and rights of entry. Follow all QC plans. Assist PM with estimating surveying tasks. Schedule tasks. Collaborate with a multi‑discipline team. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Participate in department and field crew training. Represent Jacobs with professionalism. What You’ll Need Experience with surveying data using Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or similar CAD software. Proven ability to complete all technical aspects of surveying tasks. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Reputation as a trusted member of the surveying community. Valid driver’s license. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (primarily within California, Nevada, and Arizona). Pass drug screen and background checks. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Trimble equipment and software. Associate or bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. 3 to 5 years of experience as an Instrument Operator, Party Chief, Survey Technician, or Project Surveyor. Salary Hourly pay with a range of $62,200.00 to $150,000.00. Individual pay is determined by location and experience.
