Strategic Intelligence Associate

The Strategic Intelligence Associate supports Burford’s global strategic intelligence function by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable research that informs marketing, business development, underwriting, and corporate strategy. Reporting to the SVP of Strategic Intelligence, this role is responsible for executing and delivering core intelligence inputs, including monitoring, synthesizing, and distributing intelligence; supporting the production and maintenance of high-quality commercial data; and managing core research administration processes. The role directly enables sales and marketing activity and executive decision‑making while contributing to the ongoing development of Burford’s strategic intelligence capabilities. Base compensation range: $80,000 – $110,000, with discretionary annual bonus and welcome Restricted Stock Units for full‑time employees. Responsibilities Own the production and distribution of the Burford Daily Briefing, ensuring consistent, timely, and global delivery of relevant intelligence each business day. Monitor legal, litigation, corporate, and industry developments, including cases of interest, competitor activity, and market signals relevant to Burford’s commercial priorities. Curate and synthesize information from legal, financial and news databases into clear, concise summaries for internal audiences. Support the Strategic Intelligence function with background research, monitoring and briefing materials related to corporate strategy initiatives. Own the production and distribution of the quarterly competitor report and actively maintain the competitor tracker. Research, validate and support the enrichment and correction of contact and prospect data in Salesforce, partnering with Marketing and BD to improve data accuracy and usability in support of commercial workflows and reporting. Partner with Strategic Intelligence leadership and Marketing and BD to ensure intelligence‑driven insights and research outputs are reflected accurately in CRM records. Manage the research subscription tracking database, including license assignments and ongoing maintenance. Support contract renewals and vendor management in collaboration with the SVP of Strategic Intelligence. Assist with the initial setup and implementation of new research platforms as part of the intelligence stack. Prepare quarterly analyses of research spend and cost allocation for Finance as needed. Process vendor invoices and support budget tracking related to research tools and subscriptions as needed. Experience & Skills 2+ years of experience in research, intelligence, data or analytical support roles, preferably within professional services, legal, financial or consulting environments. Demonstrated experience using legal, financial and news research databases. Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) or structured data environments. Relevant research experience or equivalent professional background. Exposure to the legal industry or the business of law preferred. Strong research and information‑retrieval skills with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to distill large volumes of information into clear, well‑organized summaries. Proficient with Microsoft Excel at a basic to intermediate level to analyze, organize and present data. Strong written communication skills and comfort preparing executive‑ and sales‑facing materials. Ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning about litigation finance, legal markets and commercial strategy. Ability to collaborate closely with senior leadership and incorporate feedback into research and intelligence outputs. Performance Expectations Execute research and intelligence requests accurately, efficiently and on deadline. Escalate questions, ambiguities or prioritization issues appropriately to the SVP of Strategic Intelligence. Remain responsive to business needs, including occasional off‑hours responsiveness, in support of a global commercial organization. Continuously build familiarity with Burford’s markets, clients, competitors and intelligence priorities.
