Nurse Manager

Position Title: Registered Nurse Manager Written: August 2026 Reports To: Chief Operations Officer Department: Clinical Operations Type: Professional - Exempt POSITION PURPOSE: Under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Registered Nurse (RN) Manager provides expert management and oversight to internal medicine practice including medical, and behavioral health services. The RN Manager is responsible for daily operations, staff supervision, patient care coordination, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and administrative functions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Two years of management experience required Two years of recent experience with children and adolescents preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to assess situations and act quickly Proficiency with patient care and office equipment Current CPR certification and valid Michigan driver’s license Ability to pass a State background check Essential Responsibilities And Duties Operations & Staff Supervision Supervise, schedule, and manage Medical Assistants and office staff, ensuring adequate coverage and a supportive work environment Oversee staff performance, address behavior or performance issues, conduct annual evaluations, and facilitate staff development Foster a positive, inclusive, and organized clinical work environment Lead daily patient care huddles and annual surveys Patient Care & Case Management Provide direct patient care, including nursing assessments, routine tests and procedures, and first aid/medically prescribed services Coordinate and manage care for patients with chronic or complex health needs, including Emergency Action Plans Promote disease prevention and health maintenance through instruction, counseling, and guidance Serve as a resource and advocate for patients and families, maintaining confidential and respectful communication Make appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with physicians, providers, interdisciplinary teams, and administrative staff to optimize patient care and operational efficiency Serve as a resource on health issues and communicate with parents and families about patient needs Manage incoming calls, messages, and correspondence Compliance & Quality Improvement Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and accrediting bodies Monitor and maintain adherence to federal, state, and local laws, and organizational policies Lead and participate in continuous quality improvement and performance initiatives, including incident investigation and reporting Administrative & Financial Management Manage business operations, inventory, purchasing, and operating expenses within budget guidelines Work with finance and administration to monitor site financial performance, process payroll, and achieve patient volume targets Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and oversee general filing systems, patient charts, and required documentation Schedule and coordinate appointments and laboratory services; manage master schedule for providers Ensure security of health center supplies and petty cash/change funds Other Duties Develop, implement, and update nursing policies, procedures, and best practices Participate in professional development and process improvement activities Perform other duties as assigned to support optimal clinic operations and patient care WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able to work a flexible schedule (per agency requirements). Ability to work autonomously and be responsible for quality measures and outcomes. Times of prolonged computer related exposure. Exposure to communicable diseases and unhealthy populations, as well as disturbing and uncomfortable issues or matters contrary to personal beliefs. Ability to work creatively and skillfully with children of all ages. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team with staff from various areas of responsibility. Self-motivated and able to work in a quick paced environment. Ability to plan and manage tasks in a timely manner. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
