RN - ICU

Registered NurseProfession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred Must-Have: Candidates must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies. Experience with trauma and neuro-strokes is required. Candidates must have excellent past experiences in larger, fast-paced facilities.Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on day one. This is a pass/fail test. Holiday requests will be considered, but are not guaranteed. The unit consists of 30 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 1-2, with 90% of the time being a 1 to 2 ratio. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. PALS certification is preferred and will be required for travelers who stay longer than 6 months. Candidates must have experience managing vasopressors and sedation drips. The charge nurse is available 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment. A house supervisor is available 24/7. One Unit Tech is present for all 30 beds, primarily providing secretarial work. An Intensivist and Respiratory Therapy team are available in-house 24/7. The unit is equipped with Hamilton ventilators. RN staff must interpret their own telemetry strips, which will be run by a Unit Secretary. Self-scheduling is not finalized until the manager reviews it. Travelers are the first to be moved if necessary. Weekends will be scheduled every other weekend. Holidays will be addressed during the scheduling process. There is no call or standby requirement for travelers. Floating is required to PCU and CICU, tele, or med/surg units; in CICU, they will have an ICU patient, not an open-heart case. The dress code is navy scrub color. Must be willing to work hard on this unit and be open to asking questions and seeking help. This unit is fast-paced. Candidates must be able to get along well with others. The facility is traveler-friendly. Cancellations are allowed up to 4 shifts for assignments of 13 weeks or longer, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments. The charting system used is Cerner. BSN is not required. Certification for the COVID vaccine is required. NIHSS certification is also needed.
