A Brief Overview Perform a variety of clinical supervisory functions, including leading and coordinating the daily clinical operations of the unit and personnel. Ensure quality patient care by holding staff accountable to established standards, interpreting policies and procedures, providing support for quality psychotherapy, conducting assessments, diagnosing and treating patients independently, building relationships with hospital staff, physicians, community agencies, and presenting professional services to enhance the organization’s reputation. Essential Functions Clinical Operations Manage patient flow in coordination with other supervisors and team members. Oversee delivery of patient care and coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers, and respond to unforeseen events, adjusting patient assignments as needed. Problem‑solve resources to maximize patient flow, maintain quality care, and promote open communication between team members and departments. Ensure clinical documentation is completed in a timely manner. Follow up with floating staff, welcoming them as part of the team and assigning a buddy. Collaborate with the manager and other unit leaders to meet staffing challenges and consider the impact of staffing decisions. Ensure staff have necessary supplies, equipment, information, and resources for safe, quality care. Provide training on new skills and industry changes to new and current employees. Remain current on skills and training; serve as a clinical expert. Play an integral role in planning for current and future clinical needs and resources. People Leadership Supervise clinical and paraprofessional staff, handling recruitment, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, schedules, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, orientation, and development. Support staff retention using professional techniques; evaluate candidates, provide feedback, and oversee onboarding. Meet with new staff and preceptors bi‑weekly to assess and coach progress, manage variables that influence progress, and deliver regular feedback. Collaborate with leadership on staff development, providing substantive feedback and recognizing competencies. Escalate issues beyond own authority to the department manager for guidance and resolution. Ensure a patient/family‑focused environment; respond to quality issues and maintain regulatory compliance. Communication Maintain an environment of trust, fairness, consistency, and confidentiality with team members and customers. Listen and seek clarification through rounding; develop solutions based on findings. Represent direct reports’ needs to all levels of leadership and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Take initiative to communicate proactively and follow up on issues. Quality, Compliance, and Safety Make changes in clinical assignments based on patient needs and staff competencies. Promote a safe, therapeutic, customer‑friendly environment and resolve concerns promptly. Demonstrate clinical knowledge needed to coach staff; pursue continuous learning. Collaborate with the health‑care team to monitor and achieve quality patient outcomes. Optimize patient flow while maintaining quality care; collaborate on bed management and patient placement. Implement area‑specific policies and practice guidelines per Children’s policy and regulatory standards. Hold self and staff accountable for behaviors that drive quality improvement; complete audits per unit or organization plan. Identify and participate in quality improvement projects that enhance patient care, organizational outcomes, or patient satisfaction. Support development and implementation of evidence‑based protocols; educate staff and monitor compliance. Collect data on trials for new products and provide education on product implementation. Building Relationships and Service Manage conflict, identify service‑recovery strategies that preserve dignity, and maintain accountability for service improvement. Use problem‑solving models to resolve patient problems and implement solutions. Coach staff on consistent service behaviors; respond to and manage customer‑service issues. Conduct daily patient and family rounds; intervene to prevent service issues. Assist investigations of variance reports and identify cross‑departmental service concerns that impact care and resource use. Support the unit Area Action Council by attending team meetings regularly and assist other clinical supervisors. Education Qualifications Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or related field (Required) Experience Qualifications Minimum 2 years’ experience in behavioral health settings (Required) Experience with children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting (Preferred) Skills and Abilities Perform a variety of duties, often changing tasks, without loss of efficiency or composure, and effectively manage multiple requests. Knowledge of psychological principles, child and adolescent development, interpersonal dynamics, individual and group behavior, and behavior modification techniques. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other clinical professionals to gather and exchange information. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in providing age‑appropriate care to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Licenses and Certifications Current and valid Independent Mental Health Practitioner Nebraska license or state of Nebraska eligible (Upon Hire Required) Current and valid licensure as a psychologist in the state of Nebraska or state of Nebraska eligible (Upon Hire Required) Non‑Violent Intervention training (Upon Hire Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) – current and valid Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association (Behavioral Health & Wellness Center only) (Upon Hire Required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
